Facts below are drawn from the linked sources.

Real history

The National Register nomination dates the house to the early 1880s (National Register nomination). The mansion's site says the Santa Fe Railway built it for the Luna family in exchange for a right of way, and that Josefita "Pepe" Manderfield Otero made its biggest additions in the 1920s (Luna Mansion).

The News-Bulletin reported on Oct. 15, 2026, that it would open to the public for the first time in almost seven years for a haunted house event after a year of restoration (News-Bulletin, 2026).

KOAT reported in 2022 that guests and staff have described kitchen doors opening and closing on their own and a rocking chair under a portrait of Josefita, who remodeled the mansion in the 1920s, rocking with no one in it. General manager Farid Himeur said in 2016, "I hear things. I see things that aren't supposed to happen." Source: KOAT, 2022.
