Real history

EBR-I was the world's first breeder reactor. At 1:50 p.m. on December 20, 1951, it made enough electricity to light four 200-watt bulbs, making it one of the first nuclear plants to generate electricity. It was used for research until it was decommissioned in 1964 and is now a National Historic Landmark (Wikipedia).
