Real history

Bayhorse was founded in 1877 and grew from 1880 on its silver deposits. By 1885 it had 300 residents, a mill, three stores, a hotel and five saloons, and by 1900 its mines had yielded over $10 million in silver, lead and copper. The town was listed on the National Register in 1976. The state bought it in 2006 and opened it in 2009 as part of Land of the Yankee Fork State Park. House ruins, mining equipment and charcoal kilns remain (Wikipedia).
