Real history
The dredge's official site says Bucyrus-Erie built it between April 1 and August 24, 1940, for the Snake River Mining Co. It weighs 988 tons. It stopped from October 1942 until 1946 for World War II and again in 1947. J. R. Simplot and Fred Baumhoff bought it in 1949 and restarted it in April 1950. They shut it off in 1952 and, in 1953, moved it to the spot where it still sits (Yankee Fork Gold Dredge).
