Real history
Kirtland Cutter designed the mansion in 1897 for mining millionaire Patsy Clark. It was long a restaurant, and a law firm bought it and now works there. Sources differ on the purchase date: Wikipedia gives 2002, while The Spokesman-Review reports that Spokane Civic Group LLC, formed by the firm's partners, bought it in February 2003 (The Spokesman-Review, 2004). It is on the National Register of Historic Places (Wikipedia).
