Real history
The hotel's own site says it was built in 1911 (Plains Hotel). Legends of America says the five-story, 100-room hotel opened with a celebration on March 9, 1911, with three elevators, private baths and telephones (Legends of America).
Sources differ: the National Register nomination gives the grand opening as March 10, 1911 (National Register nomination).
Ghost stories
These are reported legends, not verified events. The creepiness score (1–5) is Spook Atlas's own editorial rating, not a measurement.
In 2019 the University of Wyoming's Branding Iron reported that co-owner Astrid said staff have felt presences and ghosts holding their hands. The hotel's legend says a bride named Rosie shot her husband and a woman, then herself; laughing and crying are reported in room 444. The legend itself is not documented. Source: Branding Iron, 2019.
