Real history
The Queen Anne house was built in 1888 for T. W. Shelton, enlarged in the 1910s for Robert McMurphey and remodeled by Curtis and Eva Johnson in 1951. It had fires during construction and in 1950. Eva Johnson deeded it to Lane County in 1976, and it is now owned by the City of Eugene (Wikipedia).
Ghost stories
These are reported legends, not verified events. The creepiness score (1–5) is Spook Atlas's own editorial rating, not a measurement.
Haunted-house lists often name it, but the museum answers directly: "Despite its age and history, it is not our belief that SMJ is haunted." We found no well-sourced ghost account. Source: SMJ House FAQ.
