Real history
Maryland DNR says the federal government built the lighthouse in 1830, that it is now owned by the state and no longer active, and that it is the oldest standing integral lighthouse in the United States (Maryland DNR).
In program news, the Point Lookout Lighthouse Preservation Society says its paranormal night investigation program has ended and its October ghost walks are no longer held (PLLPS).

Partly open The Point Lookout Lighthouse Preservation Society says the lighthouse is open on select days from Memorial Day to Labor Day, typically 9 am to 5 pm Thursday through Monday depending on staff, and that no access is allowed outside regularly scheduled public events (PLLPS). Maryland DNR lists park hours of 7 am to sunset from May through September and 8 am to sunset from October through April (Maryland DNR). Last checked: Nov 1, 2026.
