Real history

The six-story French Chateau-style building at 10th and Main opened in 1901 at a cost of $125,000, then the most expensive building in Boise. It ran as a hotel until it became apartments in the 1970s, and it was listed on the National Register in 1974 (Wikipedia).

Idaho Press columnist Rick Just wrote that a Kuna farmer, Alexander Palmer Jacobs, son of early Boise merchant Cyrus Jacobs, jumped to his death from a fourth-floor window in 1921 (Idaho Press, 2020).

Ghost stories

These are reported legends, not verified events. The creepiness score (1–5) is Spook Atlas's own editorial rating, not a measurement.

Doors, curtains and the elevator Our creepiness rating 💀💀💀💀💀
Rick Just called them "rumors of ghosts": curtains that flap with no breeze, doors and locks that open on their own, and moans from the elevator shaft, which he noted may just be the age of Idaho's oldest elevator. He also repeated stories of a wife killed in the early 1900s and a bellboy allegedly shot in the late 1970s; he did not cite records for them. Source: Idaho Press, Oct. 16, 2020.
The shadow on the fourth floor Our creepiness rating 💀💀💀💀💀
Boise historian Mark Iverson told Boise Weekly that in 1975 John Nelson killed Joseph Granin and then died by suicide on the fourth floor. He said witnesses have since reported a dark figure there, and he relayed a former resident's account of a shape at her window and a pull on her ankle. Iverson said he is skeptical himself.
