Real history
George Lee founded it as Galena City in 1877 and renamed it Capitol City in hopes it would become the state capital. Wikipedia puts its peak at about 800 people, a traditional figure this check could not tie to a census; falling silver prices, lawsuits and hard transport drove it down, and the post office closed in 1920. Private homes and land surround the site (Wikipedia).
