Real history
Delta King is a 285-foot sternwheel steamboat that entered service between Sacramento and San Francisco in 1927 and ran until 1940. After wartime Navy service and use as an accommodation ship in British Columbia, she returned to Old Sacramento as a hotel, restaurant and venue (Wikipedia).
CBS Sacramento wrote that the boat was abandoned after the war and that the current owners bought it in 1984 (CBS Sacramento, 2012). The Delta King's own history says the restoration took five years and the boat reopened in 1989 (Delta King).
