Ghost stories

These are reported legends, not verified events. The creepiness score (1–5) is Spook Atlas's own editorial rating, not a measurement.

Ladell Our creepiness rating 💀💀💀💀💀
Ladell Allen poisoned herself with mercury cyanide in her bedroom during her mother's Christmas party in 1948 after an affair with a married man fell apart, and died in hospital on Jan. 2, 1949. Her mother kept the room sealed for decades. The owners later found her letters under the attic floorboards and say she haunts the room. Source: KATV, 2019. Sources differ on details: KATV gives her age as 45 and more than 50 letters, while Monticello Live gives her dates as March 22, 1894 – January 2, 1949 (age 54) and over 80 letters (Monticello Live).
