Real history
Sources differ: the National Register nomination dates the recording of the Miner's Delight lode to Sept. 13, 1867 (National Register nomination); Wikipedia dates the find to 1868. Gold was found there in 1868, and by 1870 the town had 75 people, 40 of them miners. The mine shut down in 1882; smaller booms came in 1907, 1910 and the Great Depression. The town was lived in as late as 1960 and had no residents by 2015 (Wikipedia).
