Real history
The hotel opened in 1909, just before the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition. Developer Samuel Rosenberg traded it in 1910 for an Oregon orchard that his sons later ran as Harry & David (Wikipedia).
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021 (The Seattle Times).
Ghost stories
These are reported legends, not verified events. The creepiness score (1–5) is Spook Atlas's own editorial rating, not a measurement.
Staff and guests claim the ghost of Alice B. Toklas haunts the hotel, reporting a presence outside room 408, an unexplained breath in an empty room, and piano music from an empty suite. Sources: KING 5, 2015; KNKX, 2015.
The Seattle Times notes Toklas "probably never set foot in the hotel"; the legend rests on a rumor that it stands on the site of her childhood home. Source: The Seattle Times.
