Real history

A break wall was built around two islands to shelter ore boats, and the company built an entire town for dock workers. From the mid-1950s to the mid-1980s it had about 20 homes, a town hall, a fire hall and a school. After the early-1980s bust a developer moved the houses away by the early 1990s, and the dock was abandoned about a decade later (WCCO, 2024). A basketball court remains, and the power plant was torn down in 2025 (Wikipedia).
