Facts below are drawn from the linked sources.

Real history

The hotel stands on the site of Phoenix's first school, built in 1874. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 (Wikipedia).

Historic Hotels of America says it formally opened on March 20, 1928 (Historic Hotels of America), and the Arizona Republican of that day announced the public reception for that night (SAH Archipedia). Sources differ: Wikipedia gives March 19.

Ghost stories

These are reported legends, not verified events. The creepiness score (1–5) is Spook Atlas's own editorial rating, not a measurement.

Leone Jensen Our creepiness rating 💀💀💀💀💀
Phoenix.org wrote in 2015 that 22-year-old Leone Jensen jumped from the hotel weeks after it opened, and that witnesses describe a woman in white standing at the foot of their beds. Source: phoenix.org, 2015. She died in the early hours of May 7, 1928, according to The Arizona Republic, drawing on the Arizona Republican's report of May 8, 1928, which also says later versions about a bellboy boyfriend are not supported (azcentral, 2019; Salt River Stories). The May 27 date appears in phoenix.org and ghost-tour retellings.
Children's voices Our creepiness rating 💀💀💀💀💀
The same article says some people report a little girl crying in rooms and children's voices in the halls and basement. Source: phoenix.org, 2015. Ghost Adventures visited in 2023 (azcentral, 2023).
